Set up Figma plugin

Learn how to set up Monotype Fonts plugin for Figma

Written by Supriya Bisht

The Monotype Fonts plugin for Figma works with the Monotype Desktop App to detect fonts missing from your Figma files. It activates those fonts automatically using your Monotype Fonts subscription.

Because Figma requires plugins to be published through its own platform, an admin must complete the initial setup.

Once set up, the plugin is available to all Figma users in your organization.

Note: This plugin requires Monotype Desktop App v7.3.2 or later. It is compatible with the current Figma release following updates required by Figma’s plugin publishing process and the introduction of the documentAccess: "dynamic-page" permission model.

This article explains the full process to set up the Monotype Fonts plugin for Figma files, from downloading the plugin package to authorizing it in Figma. It includes:

  • Desktop App: Monotype Desktop App v7.3.2 or later is installed.

  • Figma access: You have Organization Admin rights or Developer access for your Figma account.

  • Org settings: Your Figma organization allows custom plugins.
